Today, the Assembly Budget Committee convened to evaluate two legislative proposals, Assembly Bill 1x and Assembly Bill 2x, aimed at "Trump Proofing" California. Assemblywoman Alexandra Macedo (R-Tulare), a member of the Budget Committee and representative of California's largest agricultural region, provided her perspective on these measures.

Assemblywoman Macedo stated: “Facing high prices for everything from rent to food, Californians struggle to pay their bills. Unable to pay for everyday expenses, residents resort to charging their credit cards resulting in high debt."

She highlighted specific issues affecting her constituents in the Central Valley: “In the Central Valley, communities are without clean, reliable drinking water. Farm land is being fallowed because there is no water."

Macedo emphasized the urgent needs of wildfire victims and water infrastructure improvements: “We need water. Wildfire victims need help to rebuild.”

Her statement concluded with a call for cooperation rather than conflict: “We should work with President Trump to help wildfire victims, to build our water infrastructure and to lower costs, not pick legal battles.”
